What a credit buys

1 credit = 1 prompt × 1 engine × 1 run. A check that asks the same question 10 times on one engine costs 10 credits and gives you a mention rate backed by 10 real answers.

Perplexity runs cost 3 credits each: its underlying search API bills a per-request fee on top of tokens, and we pass that real cost through instead of hiding it in everyone else's price.
